Chibi’s 20th Anniversary Concert

  • 7th December 2013

What a night! Over 500 friends, family and taiko fans gathered at the Vancouver Playhouse on November 30 to help us celebrate twenty years as Canada’s first youth taiko group. Joining us on stage were special friends Yoshikazu and Yoko Fujimoto and Seattle’s Inochi Taiko, making it a night to remember. Our new costumes looked great under the lights and everyone brought lots of energy and smiles to the stage. Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and to everyone who helped out behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly.

Let us take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us over the past twenty years – former members, parents, friends, donors and fellow taiko players – the Chibi family is truly a special one!

Read a review in Japanese HERE.

Tonari Gumi Run and Walk

  • 13th May 2008

Chibi Taiko participated in the first annual Tonari Gumi Run and Walk at Burnaby’s Central Park on Sunday. There were about thirty of us from Chibi taking part, most of whom opted for the 3k stroll. Shinobu, our noble leader, was the only one who took the 10k running option. That’s why he’s the only one sweating in the photos. After the run/walk we all sat down to a delicious bento lunch provided by TG. We then played two pieces. Musubi was a bit of a challenge as Kayo was having her wisdom teeth extracted, leaving a vacancy at shime. Emiko, who has never performed it (but had two lessons in the past two months) and Shinobu shared the part. It was ragged but fun. Then the whole group (seniors and juniors) played Matsuri. It was a great day. Congratulations to Tonari Gumi, who got a much bigger turn-out then they planned for. Next year . . . bigger and better! Click on the first photo to start slide show.
